EUCHARISTIC POCHVENNICHESTVO: «THE FORTH MAGUS» BY S.N. DURYLIN (COMPARED WITH «THE PEASANT MAREY» BY F.M. DOSTOYEVSKY)

Karpenko G.Y., Shchepalina E.A.

Abstract

The article deals with a specific utterance of Russian literature, a personal confession of faith, a special metanoia of F.M. Dostoyevsky and S.N. Durylin on the material of the stories «The Peasant Marey» and «The Fourth Magus». The conclusion is made about the connection of the autochthonous and the childish in the stories: the spiritual childhood memories of the writers get
a context’s religious perspective, these revelations are filled with the additional – the higher – meanings in the line of the popular Christian tradition and raised to the level of the ontological value, the immutable spiritual heritage of a human and a nation, the hidden God’s intention of the world. The peasants of F.M. Dostoevsky and S.N. Durylin become carriers of the selfless service and exponents of eucharistic pochvennichestvo: their vocation is to cultivate, prepare the Russian people for the sacrament of the
Christ’s kingdom.

Kanina S.Y., Kuchumova G.V.

Abstract

The novels Faserland by K. Kracht and Духless by S. Minaev artistically capture the consciousness of the second lost generation, fully formed in the postmodern situation. Postmodern chaos sets a specific style of life, a special perception of the world and a new personal perspective. Confessional form allows the heroes to collect their signs of their presence/reflection in this world. The characteristic features of the second lost generation –conformism, cynicism and unreadiness to sympathize to the near are a defensive reaction to the inconsistency, lack of personality cores and impossibility of the choice of an active life position.
