Abstract
The article deals with the problem of translation strategy defining. The approaches of both Russian and foreign specialists in translation connected with this question are analyzed. The attempt to reason the effectiveness of the communicative-functional approach usage towards the understanding of the translation strategy is made in order to work out a logical and full definition of the analyzed phenomenon.
