MOVIE AS LEARNING TOOL IN TEACHING COMMUNICATION AT THE UNIVERSITY LEVEL

Abstract

The article discusses the didactic potential of a cinema at the lessons of communication courses in higher school. Movie is used not as a learning tool for illustrative purpose, and also it is data for communicative analysis which can help students in understanding complicated phenomena of communication studies. The author presents a description of phase-by-phase work with film adaptations aimed at analyzing of different aspects of communicative interaction (verbal, non-verbal, paraverbal) and their interaction. The paper summarizes experiences of using three movies adaptations of a classic novel by I. Ilf and E. Petrov «The twelve chairs» at the lessons of the course “Introduction to the theory of communication”.
