Abstract
The article gives the model of the semantic structure of the newest loanword from English indie that was made by means of contextual
analysis. Research of the collected contexts allowed to determine scopes
of the most frequent use of the loanword indie. Matching the meanings
of the word indie in English dictionaries and the meanings of the loanword indie in the modern Russian discourse makes possible to mark modification of the meaning of the word indie. The study established that loanword indie is complicated in its semantic structure. Two new meanings of the loanword indie are formed in Russian — «the cinema genre» and «the genre of video games».
