Abstract

The article investigates the journal polemics of the 1870-ies on the state of modern literature and journalism, on restructuring the system of spiritual and aesthetic values in post-reform Russia, on the rise of ideological struggle between the media, competition between them, an expansion of discussion: from the ways of development of Russia up to ethical standards of journalistic work.
