Abstract
The article describes the experience of training and strengthening of tolerance that has been gained at Nizhny Novgorod Linguistic University. Elaboration of academic courses aimed at rising the awareness of ethnic and confessional issues, activities of autonomous student organizations, museum activities as well as organizing scientific conferences dealing with ethnic and confessional issues are considered as a complex. Profound understanding of tolerance and broadening the realm of its implementing sustain ethnic and confessional security in the region and in the country as a whole.
