Abstract
The aim of the given article is to show which place mythology occupies in series of forms of public consciousness and how this can be manifested in the language. The object of research is the theory of study of different aspects of mythology and mechanisms of mythological thinking. The aim of the work is to give the definition of myth, to denote the place of mythology in the series of other forms of public consciousness and to show the important role of myth in the formation of this forms and to demonstrate the mechanism of action of mythological thinking at large and its display in our modern life and language.
