Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of rationalist approach to finding the meaning of life. The author compares the philosophical positions of the main rationalist thinkers in the novels «The Brothers Karamazov» by F.M. Dostoevsky, «Doctor Zhivago» by B.L. Pasternak. The way of life, subordinated to the «logic of mind», is defined as «hermetic».
