DYNAMIC ASPECT OF THE CONCEPT «CIRCLE»: EXPERIENCE OF STRUCTURING BASED ON THE IMAGE-SCHEMA

Abstract

The article is devoted to the modeling of semantic structure of the concept “circle” in the dynamic aspect. The analysis of metaphors embodying an image of a movement in a circle has shown variety of the embodied meanings, diverse, and often opposite which are
difficult for uniting in the general structure. In the article the original
way of forming meaning system of a geometrical concept “circle”, based on the image-scheme – a concept, which generalizes information on reality in the form of elementary image representing the schematic generalized sensual representation of this fragment of reality is suggested. Metaphorical meanings are related to reflecting different aspects of prototypical action – a movement in a circle.
