Abstract
This article examines place and role which text takes in the philological
education of primary school pupils in the Republic of Belarus. The author formulates basic requirements to the text as an upbringing tool. Text as an educational component is supposed to be didactically valuable and to be a model of right and literate speech of high level of culture as well. Also text should correspond with a contemporary representation of the world and have an upbringing potential. According to practice, the including texts which meet all these requirements into educational process is the only thing that is true and efficient.
