Abstract
This article analyzes the contradictions in the positions of Germany and Russia on NATO's eastward expansion. With the tools of diplomacy Germany has managed to secure a positive solution to this issue, thereby implementing its national interests. Revealed that the weakening of Moscow's influence has allowed Germany to embark on the actual ignoring Russia's interests in regional security.
