Abstract

 The article is focused on the analysis of implicit evaluation involved in the expression of the category “friend or foe” in the English language. Implicit evaluation expressing category “friend or foe” is viewed as a multilayer phenomenon, specific features of which are revealed through definitional and contextual analysis. An interpretation of specificity of implicit evaluation semantics expressing “friend or foe” relations in English is offered in the article.
