Abstract
The article deals with comparative expressions as at the theatre, having wide semantic potential and reflecting the structure of the image of theatrical play. These expressions are the result of metaphorical interpretation of the play and situations connected with it. Therefore, the comparative expression as at the theatre has dominant and peripheral meanings of image.
