Abstract
The article reports on the results of experimental research of contrast accent in the speech of American, Russian and Mexican speakers of English with special emphasis on nucleus realization on the contrastive element. On the basis of experimental data the characteristic features of contrastive accent in Spanish are revealed. Examples of interfering native language influence in the English speech of the Mexicans are described, as well as cases of positive linguistic transfer in the English speech of Russians.
