Abstract
The present paper deals with the category of perfectivity. The functional and semantic aspect of this category and its place in the English linguistic view of the world are discussed. The analysis of the aspect of modality is given in the article. The aim of this article is to show the potential of perfectivity in the context of cognitive theory.
