Abstract

The article is dedicated to the specifics of functioning of conceptual metaphor in the discourse of social psychology. We understand conceptual metaphor as cognitive process involved in understanding and representation of new knowledge on the basis of something well-known. In this article we consider the metaphorical modeling of human psyche in the process of socialization, social and interpersonal interaction on the basis of
representation about the weight of the object. The results showed that the representation of different weight of the object is a form of linguistic expression of human’s attitude to the social phenomena of life. The process of reducing weight is a metaphor for the principles of psychological work with human emotions and ways of perception and cognitive information processing.
