Abstract
The article tells about the life, scientific and pedagogical ways of Viktor Petrovich Zimin. Although his own scientific activity did not lead to significant accomplishments, his scientific and pedagogical work had important consequences for the emergence of the very possibility of studying ancient history in Samara.
