Abstract

The article discusses the semantic potential of nouns that refer to the periods of time. With the distribution of vectors of metonymical shifts the problem of treatment of complex («diffusal») meaning of temporal nouns, appeared as a result of shift is connected. Comprehensive semantics of temporal nouns appears as a result of syncretic perception of time in extra-linguistic reality.
