Abstract

The article addresses the innovative approach to teaching English at University with respect to the modern «Global English» context. In phonetic terms, this refers mainly to the necessity of introducing both British and American diatopic variants into the teachinglearning process. This also implies a special emphasis on the rhetorically oriented speech of BBC news and debates, whose phonetic, lexical-phraseological and morphosyntactic adaptation requires special pragmalinguistic modelling.
