Abstract
In the article the difference and similarity of perception of the category of space on the basis of geometrical concepts by the representatives of Russian-speaking and English-speaking lingvocultures is analyzed. The research is performed within the modern direction of cognitive linguistics which is concentrated on the study of the processes of categorization of objects of surrounding world and their depiction in the structure of linguistic meanings and categories.
