Abstract
In the article the concept of efficiency of functioning of industrial enterprises from the various points of view of scientists-economists is considered. Origin, development and distribution of the concept of efficiency is shown. Domestic and foreign ideas of efficiency of functioning of industrial enterprises, bases of strategic development of social and economic systems are considered.
