Abstract
The article investigates the mechanism of fear on the material, of Dmitriy Bykov s novel «Written off». The author of the article gives full attention to analyse techniques, which make possible psychological reconstruction of that mechanism on the level of the plot passage. The author concludes that Dmitriy Bykov manages to reveal the anatomy and causes of total fear of modern human, the human of era of instability, total uncertainty.
