Abstract
The problem of sustainable development of economy in the institutional aspect is viewed in the article. The author believes that the state has in its nature those mechanisms and levers, which are aimed at economic growth and sustainable development. The term «sustainable development» is interpreted, the role of state in a selfregulating economy is explained, functions of state with the consideration of its institutional nature are suggested.
