This problem isof a more general character and presents a greater practical interest than just a scratch problem since in thinwalledconstructions and enclosures whether it be plane fuselage or rocket fuel tanks etc. there always existdamages resulting from external actions and transforming into scratches in the process of operation.

It their turn, scratch dimensions will gradually increase as a result of cyclic loads arising during operation. There naturally arises a problem of determining the ultimate dimensions of these defects which can result inthe fatal failure of the whole structure at a given level of operating loads.
Thin-walled elementsloadsboundary problemplane taut statescratchcrackDugdaleТонкостенные элементынагрузкиплосконапряжённое состояниекраевая задачацарапинатрещинаДагдейл
