Abstract

In published investigations the orientation dependence of single-crystal turbine blade exploitation properties was considered for three load directions: <001>, <011> and <111>. A maximum load axis deviation of 10° was allowed. The deviation influence below this allowed limit is considered negligible. Plastic deformation is caused by slip and is contingent on shear stress in the slip plane. Crystal orientation parameters were calculated for the load axes deviation from the <001> direction, as is used in industrial blade testing. It was established that orientation axis deviation within the accepted 10 degree range may substantially alter plastic deformation development. Therefore, it is expedient to take into account the actual sample orientation and the slip plane tension and not only the applied tension during technological testing and when studying the impact of various influences on alloy properties.
