Rakovsky and self-translation by the writer. Based on the analysisof over 300 linguistic transformations in both translations the authorclassifies them, distinguishing stylistic and lexical replacement, replacement of the grammatical form of the word and grammaticalconstructions, omission or addition of a lexeme, changes in the structureof sentences. The findings about the greater proximity of the originaland authorized translation are the result of the research. The articlesubstantiates the assumption that the writer turns to the self-translationbecause he wanted to improve both language versions of the novel.</p>authorized translation, self-translation, linguistic transformations, translation adequacy, reasons for self-translation, I.
