Abstract
The article deals with the frequency of different types of binominal phrases in two Old English texts. As a result of analysis an explanation of discrepancy of binominal phrase frequency in prose and poetry is suggested, this explanation connects it with the peculiarities of contents of these texts. An assumption is made that the complexity of phrase syntactic structure is inversely proportional to that of the sentence.
