Abstract
In the article the type of description of mode of life of I.S. Shmelev on the material of the novel «The history of love» is shown. The atypy of image of material world in the work of the writer is connected with the conjugation of the mode of life and spirit, and also with the creative assimilation of traditions of Russian classical literature.
