Abstract
In the article the major factors promoting development of timber industry activity come to light; the evolution of timber industry business of noblemen of the Sheremetievs within the Yurinsky manor located in the Vasilsky (Vasilsursky) district of Nizhny Novgorod province in the second half of XIX - the beginning of the XX century is traced.
