Abstract
The article substantiates the position that the growth of the world financial system objectively encourages humanity to the need for economization of money circulation, which led to the emergence of electronic money. A brief look at the history of emergence of electronic money is presented. Positive and negative aspects in the use of electronic money are viewed.
